@Kiwi - I'm guessing you did NOT bother to read the posts on the old forum about the migration and that this new platform does NOT display content that a membership level is not able to access!!

In other words, on Joomla (old site) standard membership meant could SEE archived content but not touch. Now on PHP-Fusion (new site) that level of membership cannot SEE or TOUCH archived content!!

I apologize. I'm just still getting used to the new website. I just read the FAQ. And I am wondering, is there an upgrade system for membership levels to gain access to the hidden issues? Or are the Archived issues restricted to the superiors here? I'm just curious, that's all.

I am far too busy getting the site looking and working how I need to so haven't done anything about members other than cutting them over to the new site at this point in time.

Currently Administrators have access to everything which is a given seeing as they are responsible for updating the site.

Additionally, there is a membership class called ELITE. This group also have access to everything. Only three people currently reside in this pool. That is because they have been providing newer content for the site that cannot be made available so this gives them the ability to download it again if they lost their own copy and also as an encouragement to continue providing newer content to ensure it isn't lost if the publisher shuts down.

Will ELITE status be opened up to anyone else? That depends how I feel about it but essentially if you need to ask about it then you probably won't qualify. It was created for exceptional site supporters!!

Note: This does not denigrate or belittle normal members at all but for example if a member spends $1200 of their own money to ship magazines to me from the States for the site then OGM is a lesser place if they didn't make such a huge financial sacrifice. That sort of commitment to the site deserves some sort of recognition I think most people would agree. THAT is what ELITE is all about!!

Thanks for the helpful information. At least I now know a little more about this new-look site, and it will help me in the future. Smile

At some point I may alter the custom pages displaying the categories to include information like how many issues are scanned so people have an idea of their preservation status. Edge (UK) for example only displays up to issue 207 for members as that is where digital issues become available yet thanks to ripping content we actually have in excess of 350 issues preserved.

Changing the custom pages to have information like that would give people a better understanding of where we are actually at in regards to preservation of currently available magazines.

The issue # 68 of Official Playstation Magazine (US) http://www.oldgamemags.net/infusions/downloads/downloads.php?download_id=6892 is named "Xbox US May 2003" in its folder. The folder's name should be changed to "Playstation US May 2003".

That's the beauty of a CBR file. Open with WinZip or WinRAR and just change it yourself. Glad I went away from PDF's although they don't have a folder inside them so it wouldn't be applicable anyway

You can just CBR the jpgs directly rather than their folder (i.e. CTRL-A all of the jpgs, then RAR them while at the same time changing the extension from .rar to .cbr) and then you won't even have a folder inside of the CBR, since technically the filename itself is the folder.

I downloaded some Personal Computer Games (Aust) mags from the old site but cant even find a folder for them here. They may have just been in a folder called PCGames (Aust) as that was the earlier name.

If the name is greyed out in the Download Categories page then I have yet to create a category and upload the files for those mags to the new site. We have uploaded 6950 files to date and still have a little over 700 to go to get back to the same volume as the old site. Jason hasn't been in a position to assist so it's a one man updating band again at the current time!!
